The Whole-Brain Child & Behavior Buster Workshops
2 Half-Day Sessions – Please register for one workshop or both workshops.
8:30 – 11:30 a.m. – The Whole-Brain Child Workshop
- Join Abigail Cowser-Barnett, MSW and Medical Social Associate for Children’s Medical and Mental Health Resource Network, a Program of SIU School of Medicine, to explore ways to help take our children from surviving to thriving. This training will go over the book The Whole Brain Child by Daniel Siegel, MD and Tina Payne Bryson, PhD and look at their 12 Whole Brain Strategies to help parents, educators, and anyone working with children to navigate their development and help integrate their brains for a healthy and happy childhood.
12:30 – 3:00 p.m. – Behavior Buster!
- Join Ginger Meyer, MSW, LCSW, and Clinical Director for the Children’s Medical and Mental Health Resource Network, a Program of SIU School of Medicine, to become a behavior detective and create connections that allow for more teaching and less preaching. This session is especially designed with you in mind! Come to this PD session to explore challenges you have in the classroom and gain practical resources to help increase learning time.
Types of Certification provided by our partners:
The Illinois Education Association will provide Professional Development Hours (PDHs) per workshop for those on a Professional Educator License (PEL). The SIU School of Medicine will provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per workshop for LSW, LCSW, LPC, and LCPC.
